About Niek van Dijk
Prof. Niek van Dijk is a leading authority for arthroscopic surgery of the ankle. He is the founder of the Amsterdam Foot & Ankle School, which places particular emphasis upon a painstaking diagnosis, followed by arthroscopy as a surgical resource rather than a mere diagnostic. His operative techniques have spread throughout the world, and have benefitted leading athletes, as well as ordinary people suffering from ankle problems.
Since 2000 Niek van Dijk organizes the international Amsterdam Foot and Ankle Course. Because of the great interest in the course and the techniques he developed in 2012 the Amsterdam Foot and Ankle Platform. The aim of this free access website for orthopaedic surgeons is to improve knowledge and skills on ankle and hindfoot pathology. Today the platform has members from 115 countries all over the world.
Niek van Dijk is founder and former director of the Orthopaedic Research Center Amsterdam. He is founding editor of JISAKOS, a journal of ISAKOS. He has been in several international board positions a.o. as president of the Dutch Orthopedic Association, president of the Nordic Orthopedic Federation and lately as president of ESSKA(European Society for Sport Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy). He is honorary and corresponding member of many international associations.
He has published over 300 scientific indexed publications, several books and more than 100 book chapters and presents on average 25 international lectures a year.
